"Serbian-Czech relations developing well"

BELGRADE PM Ivica Dacic and Czech Deputy PM Martin Pecina have said that the relations between the two countries were "friendly and they are developing very well." The members of the Czech delegation headed by Pecina are the first guests from the EU to visit Belgrade following Tuesday's decision by the EU foreign affairs ministers that Serbia's EU accession negotiations should start in January, Dacic said at a joint press conference in Belgrade. "Serbian-Czech relations developing well" Dacic said that he would like the bilateral relations to be further promoted, and thanked the Czech Republic for its continuous support to Serbia in its efforts to obtain a date for the beginning of the negotiations with the EU. “We would like to raise the economic relations to a higher level,” Dacic said, noting that in 2012 the trade between the two countries amounted to a half a billion dollars, while in nine months of 2013 the figure was even higher. Dacic said that during this period the Serbian export to the Czech Republic was doubled, while the export from the Czech Republic went up by 17 percent, adding that the Serbian and Czech companies can cooperate on various projects. Pecina agreed that the bilateral relations in the area of economy are developing very well and expressed expectation that there will be even more projects in the coming months which will ensure the advancement of cooperation. Dacic and Pecina, who are also interior ministers, announced that Czech President Milos Zeman should visit Serbia in the first half of the next year, most likely in April. Moreover, they said that the cooperation between the two interior ministries is very good. Pecina said that the Czech Republic is offering cooperation to Serbia in solving the problem of asylum seekers and in the area of integrated security system, and also its assistance in view of the threat of reintroduction of the visa regime for the Serbian citizens traveling to the Schengen countries. Dačić said that during this period the Serbian export to the Czech Republic was doubled, while the export from the Czech Republic went up by 17 percent, adding that the Serbian and Czech companies can cooperate on various projects.

Pecina agreed that the bilateral relations in the area of economy are developing very well and expressed expectation that there will be even more projects in the coming months which will ensure the advancement of cooperation.

Dačić and Pecina, who are also interior ministers, announced that Czech President Miloš Zeman should visit Serbia in the first half of the next year, most likely in April.
