NEW YORK Ban Ki-moon welcomed the peaceful conduct of the elections on Kosovo and is encouraged by the positive initial reports from international observers and UNMIK. The successful holding of local elections throughout Kosovo constitutes a milestone for, both, the normalization process between Belgrade and Pristina and the enhancement of democratic institutions in Kosovo, the UN secretary-general was quoted as saying in a press release sent to Tanjug.
