Central bank buys EUR 100mn to stabilize exchange rate

BELGRADE The National Bank of Serbia (NBS) on Thursday bought EUR 100 million in the interbank foreign exchange market. The Serbian dinar (RSD) middle exchange rate against the euro (EUR) was thus set on Friday at RSD 114.0040. In the same period, the central bank sold EUR 425 million in a bid to "ease the excessive exchange rate volatility on a daily basis." On Friday, the national currency will be 0.3 percent up on this time last month, and 1.2 percent down on the year.
