"Regardless of our good relations, we do not expect any preferential treatment for our investments," Putin said. Replying to Nikolic's expression of hope that the realization of the South Stream project would start soon, Putin said that, with that project, the Serbian government would also get EUR 1.9 billion. Nikolic underlined that the conditions set by the Russian side are more than fair, noting that Serbia will meet all obligations. "Everything runs smoothly in relations between Serbia and Russia, although there are some problems, mostly on the Serbian side," the Serbian president said, voicing expectation they would be solved. "Sometimes the problem lies in the lack of skill, sometimes in the people that are not collaborative enough, and sometimes in government officials who are not circumspect enough when making decisions," Nikolic said. He placed a special emphasis on one of these problems- the issue of Srbijagas debts. "We will solve issues as friends do," the Russian president said. Putin and Nikolic both voiced satisfaction about good business results of the Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS). “I rejoice at that business success, as that company became a giant in the Balkans,” Nikolic said.
