A plane of Serbia's national airline Air Serbia cruised the sky for the first time accompanied by three planes of the Serbian Air Force on Wednesday.

BELGRADE A plane of Serbia's national airline Air Serbia cruised the sky for the first time accompanied by three planes of the Serbian Air Force on Wednesday. Commander of the 204th Air Brigade Predrag Bandic told reporters after the landing that simultaneously the planes carried out an exercise of interception and landing in case of hijacking, which he said was "one of the basic threats in modern society." First Air Serbia plane takes off on test flight Earlier on Wednesday, an Air Serbia plane performed a test flight on the Belgrade-Nis-Belgrade route. The first Air Serbia aircraft Airbus A319 landed on Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport on October 19. Airbus A319 will be ceremonially presented at Nikola Tesla Airport on October 25. The ceremony will be attended by Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and Air Serbia Director General Dane Kondic, the government announced. The first commercial flight from Belgrade to Abu Dhabi is announced for October 26. The Serbian government and Etihad Airways signed the agreement on strategic partnership on August 1 according to which the United Arab Emirate's airline owns 49 percent of capital of the Serbian airline which has changed its name from Jat Airways to Air Serbia. Etihad and the Serbian government signed a five-year agreement on the management of the new company. As of 2014, Serbia's national airline Air Serbia is expected to employ over 21,000 people directly or indirectly and to contribute to GDP with over USD 700 million annually. (Tanjug) Tanjug

First Air Serbia plane takes off on test flight

Earlier on Wednesday, an Air Serbia plane performed a test flight on the Belgrade-Niš-Belgrade route.

The first Air Serbia aircraft Airbus A319 landed on Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport on October 19.

Airbus A319 will be ceremonially presented at Nikola Tesla Airport on October 25.
