LONDON Vladimir Bozovic says the United Nations and the EU should stay in Kosovo and Metohija through UNMIK and EULEX as guarantors of security in this area. The Serbian state secretary at the Interior Ministry, who is participating in a meeting of the Global Community in London taking place from October 13-17, said that from 1999 until 2012 there were 8,396 ethnically-motivated attacks in Kosovo in which Albanian extremists killed 666 Serbs and non-Albanians, while 1,091 persons were kidnapped. UN, EU "should stay in Kosovo as guarantors of security" He said that in this period over 1,200 persons were seriously injured, houses were ransacked and set on fire, 165 Serbian Orthodox churches and monasteries were razed to the grounds, and Serbian cemeteries were damaged, reads a statement by the Interior Ministry. Stressing that the data are worrying, Bozovic said that the UN and the EU need to make additional efforts in order to guarantee security in this area, and he expressed opposition to the reduction of their number in the field as proposed by the interim institutions in Pristina. Bozovic also met with Assistant to the UN General Secretary Dmitry Titov, who commended the participation and engagement of Serbian policemen in the international mission so far.
