Serbia makes progress, but "yet to face challenges" The EC also said that as the result of the progress in a series of sectors, Serbia launched a new stage in the relations with the EU. The document, which Tanjug had a chance to see and which will be officially presented in the EU seat on Wednesday, says that visible and sustainable progress has been made "in the dialogue with Kosovo" and that the implementation of the Brussels agreement is already producing a number of irreversible effects in the field. In keeping with the achieved progress, the Commission expects the European Council to complete the drafting of the negotiating platform and adopt it so that the first intergovernmental conference could begin in January 2014 the latest, in keeping with the June conclusions of the Council. As main challenges Serbia is to face in the near future, the Commission listed rule of law, and especially the judiciary reform, the fight against corruption and organized crime, public administration reform and independence of key institutions, freedom of the media, countering discrimination and protection of minorities.
