Serbian, Italian governments to meet on Oct. 15

The third joint meeting of the governments of Serbia and Italy will be held in Ancona, Italy, on October 15, it was announced in Belgrade.

BELGRADE The third joint meeting of the governments of Serbia and Italy will be held in Ancona, Italy, on October 15, it was announced in Belgrade. Serbia's Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic and Italy's Deputy Foreign Minister Marta Dassu revealed this during their joint news conference on Tuesday. Serbian, Italian governments to meet on Oct. 15 It will be the third official meeting and another confirmation of good relations between the two countries, Mrkic said. "Serbia and Italy have solid and strong relations," Dassu remarked. Italy is observing Serbia's EU integration, especially since it will take of the EU Presidency in the second half of 2014, she said. "The two countries will be able to travel a part of Serbia's journey to the EU together," she stressed, adding that 2014 will be an important year for both. She noted that Mrkic had informed her about the Serbian government's plans for structural reforms. "The reforms are very important because they will enable an agreement with the IMF and improvements to the business environment, which is important for investments, including the ones from Italy," she pointed out. Marta Dassu also conferred with First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic. The two officials said the relations between their countries were "on a high level and are constantly improving, especially in economy." Dassu underscored that Italy supports Serbia's EU integration process and promised that his country would do all it can at the EU summit in December to ensure a date of initiation of the talks for Serbia, the government said in a statement. Vucic and Dassu discussed a number of investments of Italian companies in Serbia which are very interested in further increase of investments in Serbia's economy. Vucic pointed to the importance of bilateral cooperation both in the context of Italy's support to Serbia on its EU path and the importance of enhancement of economic cooperation.
