Slavists congregate in Belgrade for international conference

BELGRADE The 43rd International Scientific Meeting of Slavists opened in Belgrade on Thursday, attended by more than 120 participants from Serbia and other countries. "The essence of this meeting is the Serbian language, and the Belgrade University will try to increase the visibility of the Serbian language," Ivanka Popovic said welcoming the participants on behalf of the rector. Slavists congregate in Belgrade for international conference Poet Rajko Petrov Nogo spoke about ruler and poet Petar II Petrovic Njegos, marking the 200th anniversary of his birth. This year's conference will last until September 15 and discuss innovation in the Serbian literary language, influences from other cultures and languages and Njegos, during his era, and today. The participants come from different universities, cultural and educational institutions from Banja Luka, Bucharest, Copenhagen, Graz, Hamburg, Heidelberg, East Sarajevo, Krakow, Katowice, Kiev, Ljubljana, Munich, Minsk, Niksic, Opole, Paris, Pescara, Pittsburgh, Podgorica, Poznan, Rome, St. Petersburg, Sofia, Turin, Warsaw, Veliko Tarnovo and Wroclaw. Professor Jovan Delic said Belgrade will host the 16th International Congress of Slavists in 2018, which was held in Minsk this year. More than 100 volumes containing science papers on the Serbian language and literature have been published so far with support from the Serbian Ministry of Science and participation from distinguished slavists from around the world. Poet Rajko Petrov Nogo spoke about ruler and poet Petar II Petrović Njegoš, marking the 200th anniversary of his birth.

This year's conference will last until September 15 and discuss innovation in the Serbian literary language, influences from other cultures and languages and Njegoš, during his era, and today.

The participants come from different universities, cultural and educational institutions from Banja Luka, Bucharest, Copenhagen, Graz, Hamburg, Heidelberg, East Sarajevo, Krakow, Katowice, Kiev, Ljubljana, Munich, Minsk, Niksic, Opole, Paris, Pescara, Pittsburgh, Podgorica, Poznan, Rome, St. Petersburg, Sofia, Turin, Warsaw, Veliko Tarnovo and Wroclaw.

Professor Jovan Delić said Belgrade will host the 16th International Congress of Slavists in 2018, which was held in Minsk this year.
