BELGRADE Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic presented the government company Official Gazette (Sluzbeni Glasnik) with a medal on Wednesday. Nikolic signed the order on July 31, rewarding Official Gazette for exceptional merit in publishing laws and regulations and to mark the 200th anniversary since Serbia's first public journal was published. President decorates Official Gazette President's adviser Oliver Antic said the first issue of Serbia's first public journal Novine Serbske was published in Vienna on August 13, 1813. Acting Director of Official Gazette Rados Ljusic said the company, which was of great significance to Serbia, was recording profit and supporting itself independently. The company completed free jobs for the government worth a little over RSD 262 million and recorded around RSD 42 million in profit by August 1, he stated. Besides its primary work of publishing laws, regulations and other general acts, Sluzbeni Glasnik is also one of the leaders in publishing in the country, as it prints important expert and theory works by significant authors from Serbia and abroad and by institutions of education.
