BELGRADE Serbia's chief negotiator in EU membership talks Tanja Miscevic says the country is technically prepared for the screening process beginning later this month. The reshuffled Serbian cabinet appointed her the chief negotiator at its first session on Tuesday, Beta has reported. Serbia "technically prepared for screening process" "I have based my optimism on the fact that I know all the people participating in the screening process, employed by the European Integration Office, ministries and special government bodies. The technical part of the process is absolutely possible to carry out," Tanja Miscevic told B92. Serbia is beginning the screening process by opening the three chapters concerning judiciary, justice and security. "I am also an optimist because the European Commission promised to help us during the screening," Miscevic added. She underlined that by placing an emphasis on the technical details she by no means neglected the political conditions for the opening of the Inter-Government Conference. At the Inter-Government Conference, supposed to take place at the end of December or early in January, representatives of EU states and Serbia should exchange negotiating frameworks, which will mark the formal beginning of the talks.
