Russian fire fighting airplane arrives in Nis

NIS - Russian fire fighting airplane “Beriev Be-200” arrived at Nis Airport on Monday where it will be on standby in case of big fires in Serbia and the region. Djordje Babic, Deputy Head of the Emergency Situations Department of the Interior Ministry, told reporters that the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations had made a decision, on Serbia's request, to send an additional aircraft. The Russian aircraft will be stationed at the Nis airport as a precaution by the end of September, and it will be engaged in fire extinguishing on request of the countries in the region, said representatives of the two countries. Babic said that without Russia's help last year's big forest fires would not be so efficiently extinguished.
