PM: Talks difficult, certain progress achieved

BRUSSELS Prime Minister Ivica Dacic says that the Brussels talks on Monday were "very difficult, but that certain progress has been achieved." Dacic was meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Hasim Thaci. EU's foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton acted as an intermediary. In a statement after the talks, Dacic said that, regardless of the progress, certain things in relation to the issues of energy, telecommunications, amnesty law are yet to be resolved. The talks on these issues will be continued during Ashton's visits to Belgrade and Pristina on Tuesday and Wednesday. Dacic announced that the next round of talks will be held in Brussels on July 24, adding that in the meantime EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule will come to Belgrade. After the meeting Thaci said that "an essential, but not complete, progress was achieved concerning the issues relating to energy and telecommunications." Thaci told reporters following the meeting that details that are yet to be resolved will be addressed during Ashton's talks with officials in Belgrade and Pristina on Tuesday and Wednesday. The agenda of today's round comprised all issues relating to the implementation of the agreement on the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina that was reached on April 19, including energy, telecommunications and other issues on which officials failed to arrive at a deal during the technical dialogue.
