Vučić sees safer, more prosperous future

VISOKI DECANI Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday that he will "continue to fight for a more secure and prosperous future for all citizens of Serbia, including those in Kosovo." The first deputy prime minister made the statement while visiting the Serbian Orthodox monastery of Visoki (High) Decani in Kosovo and Metohija. "Serbia has become a reliable partner to everyone in the world," Vucic added. Asked "whether the Kosovo elections in the fall would affect elections in Serbia," Vucic said that the issue of early elections "has not been given consideration," that it was "important to try and do the most important and the biggest jobs for the people and not think about parties and partisan interests." As he put it, Serbia is on the right track and is not locked in stalemate anymore. This is good news despite numerous obstacles it will face, he added. "Many hard things are ahead, much remains to be done, we have to make progress in political, economic and every other sense, and once we achieve this, there will be no more obstacles for us," Vucic underlined. "Serbia's task is to take care of its people in any place. Therefore we will come to Decane more often, and not only to Decane but everywhere in Kosovo, to tell our people that we are with them, that they will never be alone or left behind and to clearly say that this is simply our commitment and pledge for the future," said Vucic, who conferred with Visoki Decani Monastery Abbot Sava Janjic after the liturgy. Several dozen believers from Strpce and other places in Kosovo came to Visoki Decani Monastery early Friday morning.
