BELGRADE The Serbian government's session scheduled for Monday has been canceled, and no reason has been given for the decision, Beta news agency is reporting. The cabinet was supposed to discuss a proposal for the Serbian 2013 state budget rebalancing. Government cancels session on budget revision It was expected that the proposal would be adopted today to limit the deficit to 4.7 percent of GDP. According to previous statements, the revenue side of the budget would not undergo any changes, despite the fact that revenues were lower than planned in the first five months. At the same time, the spending part of the revised budget should see savings of about RSD 31 billion. These should be achieved through decreased subsidies to state enterprises, a drop in "some investments", and in expenditures of ministries and other state institutions. The government does not plan to freeze salaries and pensions in the public sector, while their increase, it has been announced, will be "in line with the growth of the economy and the state of the budget." The government is also expected to complete a plan for the reform of the public sector by the end of this year. (Tanjug, file) Beta
