BELGRADE Head of the Serbian Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija Aleksandar Vulin said on Tuesday he would again occupy that position. Vulin, who resigned after Belgrade and Pristina reached the agreement of April 19, said he would now implement the government policy "while keeping in mind the opinion of the Kosovo Serbs." Vulin today told a news conference that his view of the Brussels agreement had stayed the same, but that he would again be the director of the office for Kosovo at the request by the Kosovo Serbs and public requests by heads of northern Kosovo municipalities and Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic. When asked how he would implement the agreement if he was against it, Vulin responded by saying that "the EU also has officials who are eurosceptics," and that it was "good someone with objections to the agreement was implementing it, so all potential bad things could be avoided." "There will be many traps and obstacles, and it is up to us to avoid them," he told the first news conference since the government refused on May 26 his resignation, adding that "he might be better at spotting those traps." The government will continue to its funding in Kosovo and no job will be lost, Vulin stated. He also told reporters that the Serbian side has prepared "a certain number of laws that must be changed in order to implement the Brussels agreement" - but that Pristina "has significantly bigger tasks when it comes to legal regulations that need to be done." Vulin then said that he was noticing "a turbulence in the Prostina electorate after EULEX's action," i.e. after several former KLA members were placed under house arrest. However, he voiced his hope that this "will not reflect on the process of the agreement's implementation." This official also stated that he hoped "nobody will make excuses because of changed or turbulent political circumstances to try and abuse and bring into question the change of the necessary legal regulations."
