The Serbian government on Monday adopted changes to six tax laws which will ease the burden on businesses, especially small ones.

BELGRADE The Serbian government on Monday adopted changes to six tax laws which will ease the burden on businesses, especially small ones. The new legislation is also meant to ensure more stable financing for the pension and disability fund, and make for a more fair tax system. Government passes changes to six tax laws .The changes are a continuation of the reform of the Serbian tax system and a step towards the creation of a more economical and efficient state, in line with the principles defined in a fiscal strategy document adopted last year, the government said in a release. The changes will save the business sector RSD 1.7 billion at an annual level. Raising the mandatory pension insurance rate from 22 to 24 percent will increase the revenue of the pension and disability fund by around RSD 26 billion a year, creating the conditions for a sustainable state pension system. With the latest changes to tax law, property taxes payable by legal entities will no longer be calculated based on book value, but based on market value of the land the property is located on.
