BRUSSELS The Belgrade and Pristina teams were meeting in Brussels on Tuesday to try once again to reach an agreement on the implementation of the Brussels deal. They did not succeed at this today, but will continue the talks on Wednesday, Marko Djuric, head of Belgrade's negotiating team, told reporters. Talks on Brussels deal implementation “Now it is important for Pristina to show the kind of common sense and constructiveness necessary to reach the agreement, and we have not heard any serious remarks by representatives of the European Commission, with whom we conferred on Tuesday, regarding the great number of arguments that our sides has presented,” Djuric said after over four hours of dialogue in the European External Action Service building in Brussels. As Tanjug was told, there were no direct meetings between the two teams during Tuesday's round, but they had separate meetings with Director of the EU External Action Service for Western Europe Fernando Gentilini. “Our delegation came prepared and with a comprehensive plan for the community of Serb municipalities to have the exact competences envisaged by the Brussels agreement,” Djuric said. He said that the Serbian delegation proposed to representatives of the European Commission on Tuesday to start a dialogue at the highest political level on the crucial issues that have not been included in the Brussels agreement. “These are property issues, position of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Kosovo-Metohija, and participation of representatives of the Serb community in the institutions of the central government,” Djuric said. The talks between the two teams will continue on Wednesday morning. The first round of talks between the implementation teams held two weeks ago ended without a plan for the implementation of the agreement initialed on April 19 in Brussels by Ivica Dacic and Hashim Thaci. According to earlier announcements, Belgrade's team is headed by advisor to the Serbian president Marko Djuric and Pristina's by Deputy Prime Minister Hajredin Kuci, while the European Commission is represented by Director of the EU External Action Service for Western Europe Fernando Gentilini. Aleksandar Vucic, Serbia's deputy prime minister, said on Sunday that in this meeting, Pristina's team tried to impose solutions which are not part of the agreement, but that Belgrade "will insist on implementing only what is actually in the initialed document." The Brussels agreement states that a community municipalities predominantly populated by Serbs should be formed in Kosovo. Ethnic Albanians in Kosovo unilaterally declared independence in early 2008. Serbia does not recognize this proclamation. Marko Djuric (Tanjug, file) Tanjug
