BELGRADE Faculty of Political Sciences professor Predrag Simic expects the Serbian parliament to support an agreement reached in Brussels. He said that the biggest issue would be how to connect Serbs south and north of the Ibar River. Parliament should back agreement, analyst says Simic told Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) on Thursday morning that certain opposition parties and northern Kosovo Serbs had already stated they were against the agreement. He believes that is was “quite realistic to expect that a certain number of states, who have not recognized Kosovo so far, will do so after the agreement”. When asked if new conditions for a date for the beginning of the EU accession negotiations were possible, Simic said he expected “more blackmails”. “There is still a lot of time until June and the European summit,” he said, adding that “every admission and EU’s decision is political”. Simic also assessed that the Office for Kosovo would probably be restructured after Director Aleksandar Vulin’s resignation “because Serbia must not financing Serbs who live in northern and southern Kosovo”.
