BELGRADE A solid and honest arrangement is in sight in the dialogue with Pristina, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic has stated. He added that an agreement that would satisfy both sides was in sight as well. Solid arrangement in sight, FM says “Some preconditions necessary to reach an agreement have been created in the last 48 hours. It is obvious that a rational approach has started to take over that I believe stems from approach of our delegation so far,” the foreign minister told daily Vecernje novosti. He stressed that the EU mediators had obviously started to realize that Serbia was not asking anything that would harm Kosovo Albanians or the Pristina authorities. “A solid and honest arrangement is in sight. The Serbian side has accepted all proposals of (EU High Representative Catherine Ashton). Pristina still has not and it suddenly came up with a fundamentally new condition it should give up on if it truly wants a solution,” Mrkic said. He believes that there is a chance for a U-Turn and to finally reach an agreement that both Belgrade and Pristina would be satisfied with. When asked if there is a possibility of some countries, especially Germany and the U.S., becoming directly involved in the dialogue, the foreign minister said that “nobody has so far made any moves in that sense”. “It is known who participants of the dialogue are. And it is also known that representatives of a number of countries have been consulted and that they are fully up to speed with the development of the Belgrade- Pristina dialogue. This does not only go for the U.S. and Germany,” he explained. Mrkic added that it was not good to say that Serbia’s EU accession would slow down cooperation with the BRICS countries because “those are two complementary pathways”.
