PODGORICA Montenegrin presidential candidate Miodrag Lekic has stated that he will not recognize his opponent Filip Vujanovic's victory. He added that he would not rule out protests as means of political fight. “I won’t recognize Vujanovic’s victory“ Lekic said that he would not accept results of the presidential election if the State Electoral Commission (DIK) confirmed preliminary results according to which Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro (DPS) candidate Vujanovic won the April 7 election. “I will not recognize this so-called victory. I have no right to give up and accept something that is an expression of political corruption and there are many examples that confirm this,” he told Vijesti TV. However, Lekic said that everybody should wait for the results of “an institutional struggle to prove DPS’ election manipulations”. He called on the state institutions to be responsible and inspect all documents on election irregularities. “If the DPS gets away with the election irregularities, we will think about other forms of fight. It is possible we will leave parliament, but democratic protests are also possible in order to defend the Constitution and laws,” the presidential candidate pointed out. DIK released that, according to preliminary results, Vujanovic won the election with 51.21 percent of votes while 48.79 percent voted for Lekic. However, according to Lekic's campaign headquarters, he won 50.5 percent of the votes while Vujanovic won 49.5 percent. Miodrag Lekic (Beta, file) Tanjug
