Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that ultimatums concerning the Kosovo issue are unacceptable and that Moscow supports Belgrade's stands.

TASHKENT Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that ultimatums concerning the Kosovo issue are unacceptable and that Moscow supports Belgrade's stands. “We support the policy of the Serbian leadership concerning the Kosovo issue, and the position is adequate according to the key provisions of the Helsinki Final Act which implies resolution of all conflicts by mutual agreements,” Lavrov told reporters in Tashkent, ITAR-TASS has reported. Ultimatums are unacceptable, Russian FM says Lavrov recalled that the EU had initiated the mediation between Belgrade and Pristina so as to achieve a mutually acceptable solution, and added that Russia backed this move. “We backed the resolution of the UN which approved the mediating efforts,” the Russian minister said and added that the resolution that defined the parameters of the talks stated that ultimatums were unacceptable. Lavrov recalled that the EU had initiated the mediation between Belgrade and Priština so as to achieve a mutually acceptable solution, and added that Russia backed this move.
