BELGRADE Top state officials will make a final decision on Brussels’ offer based on a detailed assessment of downsides, presidential advisor Marko Djuric has said. He said that it was unfortunately completely clear that Serbia would in both cases face great challenges and losses. “Final decision to be based on thorough assessment” According to Djuric, Belgrade negotiating team is expected to decide on the EU’s offer by Tuesday afternoon. He told Tanjug that the offer was not any different than eight points the Serbian public had had an opportunity to see after the previous round of the talks. “No additional powers for the Serb community are mentioned there, no security or legal guarantees are mentioned, absence of Kosovo security forces in areas where Serbs live or at least in northern Kosovo and Metohija is not mentioned,” Djuric explained. He assessed that the dialogue was not meaningless and that just the fact that the two sides had been talking was a significant progress. “We believe that in a real dialogue, not in a dialogue in which solutions are only imposed and one side is expected to accept a unilateral agreement renouncing all its interests, therefore in a real dialogue it is possible to reach a solution,” the president’s advisor stressed. He reiterated that Serbia was committed to the dialogue and that it expected the international community and the EU to realize what destabilizing effect the dialogue had so far had on Kosovo and the region and to assess possible harmful consequences if the dialogue ended.
