BELGRADE Serbian citizens who adhere to the Gregorian calendar celebrate Easter today. The central mass was held in Belgrade’s Christ the King Cathedral. The mass started at 10:00 CET and was held by Roman Catholic Archbishop of Belgrade Stanislav Hocevar. Gregorian calendar Easter celebrated in Serbia Hocevar will serve a mass in Slovenian on Monday, April 1. In the Easter message, he said that everything that was good and true needed to go through great challenges but that it eventually always won. “But what is good wins only because it is good. The truth wins precisely because it is the truth. Therefore, not with outside force or weapons but with the internal strength of the true value,” Hocevar stressed. He called on all believers to never forget Jesus Christ and to “follow your brothers and sisters who will celebrate the secret of Easter on May 5 in unity of faith and love”. The archbishop held a service on Saturday in Marianum Church in Belgrade. Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic attended a mass at a Catholic church in the central town of Kragujevac on Saturday evening. Serbian Patriarch Irinej has sent this Easter greetings to Pope Francis, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, president of the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany Nicholas Schneider, and dignitaries of other Protestant churches.
