BELGRADE Uros Misic, who was involved in a fight with two U.S. marines in a Belgrade night club, showed up for questioning on Wednesday. After the questioning, Misic was remanded in custody for 48 hours. Hooligan remanded in custody over fight with U.S. marines The suspect showed up for questioning at a police station in Belgrade with his lawyer Borivoje Borovic around 13:00 CET. According to Borovic, his client was remanded in custody at the prosecutor’s request. The prosecutor also proposed that the two U.S. marines who were allegedly attacked in the night club be questioned. “Misic does not know who they are. He does not deny being at the club but he says he did not participate in the incident,” the lawyer told reporters, adding that he expected his client’s innocence to be proven after surveillance videos had been reviewed and witnesses questioned. “I expect the victims to come and do a lineup tomorrow and that the case will be solved quickly after a draft indictment is raised,” he added. Misic’s lawyer previously announced three times that his client would come for questioning but he did not show up until today. Misic was wanted for the fight that recently took place in Belgrade’s Plastic club. The suspect and a group of his friends were allegedly involved in a fight with several foreign nationals, including two U.S. marines who work as security guards in the U.S. Embassy. The two marines were questioned after the incident and said they did not known the attackers. Misic was convicted of attempted murder of a police officer and was released early in accordance with the Law on Amnesty last December. He served five years in prison for the attempted murder of gendarme Nebojsa Trajkovic at a football match in Belgrade in 2007. The suspect showed up for questioning at a police station in Belgrade with his lawyer Borivoje Borović around 13:00 CET.

According to Borović, his client was remanded in custody at the prosecutor’s request. The prosecutor also proposed that the two U.S. marines who were allegedly attacked in the night club be questioned.

“Mišić does not know who they are. He does not deny being at the club but he says he did not participate in the incident,” the lawyer told reporters, adding that he expected his client’s innocence to be proven after surveillance videos had been reviewed and witnesses questioned.

“I expect the victims to come and do a lineup tomorrow and that the case will be solved quickly after a draft indictment is raised,” he added.
