First deputy PM meets with Angola’s president

LUANDA Serbia’s First Deputy PM and Defense Minister Aleksandar Vucic met with Angolan President Jose Eduardo Dos Santos in Luanda on Wednesday. Commenting on his visit to Angola, Vucic said he was convinced that Serbian companies would be even more present on the Angolan market and stressed that “wide business prospects” could be opened in Angola and other African countries. I am sure that our privately- and state-owned companies will have even more room on the Angola market,” the first deputy PM stressed. He explained that this meant more work and jobs for Serbian citizens, which was the most important goal of the Serbian government. “What they asked from us is for Serbia to be in touch with privately-owned companies because they do not want to have negative experiences in any kind of business. We cannot interfere with private business but the state will always give its opinion and assessment and help our privately-owned companies, but also Angola, to achieve the best possible cooperation,” Vucic noted. Vucic and Dos Santos discussed ways to improve cooperation and economic relations between the two countries. "We have a great future here, important projects and true friends. Angola will have a true friend in Serbia as well. Serbian companies will have more space on Angola's market, which implies more jobs for our workers, and this is the most important goal of the current government," the Serbian deputy prime minister said. The first deputy PM added that Serbia would have a more important role in the African market thanks to its political ties and respect that was evident in Africa, America, Europe, Russia and China. The two officials also agreed that Vucic's visit was of great importance for initiating greater military and economic cooperation between Serbia and Angola. Vucic handed over a letter from Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic to the Angolan president. Vucic, who is also Serbia's defense minister, and Angola's Defense Minister Candido Pereira dos Santos Van-Dunem signed a joint statement on talks between the delegations of the two countries' defense ministries, the Serbian government's Media Office has released.
