BELGRADE Early parliamentary elections this year "would lead Serbia to bankruptcy", opined economic analyst Sasa Djogovic. "If such a scenario came true, the successfully launched fight against corruption and bribes would be weakened, investments and reforms would be interrupted and costs and inflation would increase while foreign exchange reserves would drop, which would push the country to the bankruptcy zone," the Market Research Institute analyst told a news conference on Thursday in Belgrade. Early elections in 2013 "would lead to bankruptcy" According to him, in the final quarter of 2012 and in early 2013 Serbia set the basis for healthy economic recovery in the coming years which should not be called into question by extraordinary elections. "The decision not to call elections is a good one because extraordinary elections are party interest or some personal interests and do not embody the country's national interest," Djogovic stated. "Serbia has already lost a lot of time in its economic, technological, cultural and all other aspects of development and the year of 2013 needs to be used for laying healthy cornerstones for the years to come on which a sustainable economic and social development of the country would rest," he explained.
