BELGRADE Serbia’s War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic has stated that there are new witnesses in the case of organ trafficking in Kosovo. He told weekly Magazin that the Organized Crime Prosecution had new information and witnesses and that it had informed Head of the EULEX Special Investigative Task Force John Clint Williamson about it. Prosecutor: New witnesses in organ trade case “A witness of medical procedures, who is known as ‘Darko’ and he is under protection, is a valuable source of relevant data,” Vukcevic said and added that the witness was safe and protected by the police. According to him, he has received “encouraging news” from Brussels that the “court proceedings will be held outside Pristina and Kosovo”. The case concerns allegations that ethnic Albanian KLA in 1999 and 2000 kidnapped Serb and other civilians in Kosovo, illegally imprisoned them in northern Albania, and sold their body parts in the international black market. The prosecutor confirmed an allegation of former coordinator of intelligence services Miodrag Rakic that Ratko Mladic could have been arrested sooner if his helpers had not been arrested at the iniatiative of Security-Information Agency (BIA) Director Rade Bulatovic. “That was a mistake and warned about it immediately, because that way we sent a signal to Ratko Mladic that his network of helpers had been busted and that he needed to change it. Those arrests were premature and that is why we had to look for Mladic for another five years, just like Rakic says,” Vukcevic pointed out. Vladimir Vukcevic (FoNet, file) Beta
