The Serbian government on Monday appointed Dejan Pavićević as Belgrade's liaison officer in Priština.

BELGRADE The Serbian government on Monday appointed Dejan Pavicevic as Belgrade's liaison officer in Pristina. Pavicevic also holds office as the head of Belgrade's negotiating team in the technical dialogue with Pristina. He was the head of the cabinet in the Ministry for Kosovo and Metohija in the previous government, after which he served as the secretary of the negotiating team in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue. Since it was set up, he has been the director of the Government Office for Expert and Operative Tasks in the Negotiating Process, in charge of the implementation of agreements reached so far and support to the dialogue. In September 2012, the government appointed Pavicevic as the head of the negotiating teams in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue. As liaison officer, Pavicevic should monitor the implementation of the agreements reached in Brussels. Albanian language media reported previously that the government in Pristina would send Ljulzim Peci to Belgrade as its liaison officer. Reacting to the appointment, Pavicevic said that he was given "a responsible and difficult job", and stressed that his status in Pristina - despite what was heard from "some Kosovo leaders" - would not be "diplomatic".
