MELBOURNE The world number one tennis player Novak Djokovic of Serbia, is through to the third round of the Australian Open tournament played in Melbourne. He beat Ryan Harrison of the U.S. in straight sets (6-1, 6-2, 6-3) on Wednesday. Four Serbs make it to 3rd round of Aussie Open Djokovic will next play Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic, who defeated Feliciano Lopez of Spain 6-2, 6-2, 6-4. Djokovic defeated Stepanek in seven out of their eight previous encounters. Another Serb, Janko Tipsarevic, also made it to the next round when he defeated Slovak Lukas Rosol (6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 7-5). Tipsarevic will next face Frenchman Julien Benneteau, who bested compatriot Edouard Roger-Vasselin 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-5). In female competition, Serbia's Ana Ivanovic is through to the third round after defeating Yung-Jan Chan from Chinese Taipei 7-5, 1-6, 6-4 on Wednesday. In the next round of the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, Ivanovic will face compatriot Jelena Jankovic, who was better than Maria Joao Koehler from Portugal (2-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2).
