BELGRADE A platform for Kosovo and technical talks with Pristina are two parallel processes, says Deputy PM and Trade Minister Rasim Ljajic. “Serbia has no interest to suspend the technical dialogue because we have never been closer to a date for the start of the (EU) negotiations,” he told Radio Television of Serbia (RTS). Platform, technical talks are “parallel processes” “We know what is in the roadmap and we will see in March what has been done of the things that were agreed. I expect the continuation of the technical dialogue and it is a parallel process with the platform on Kosovo,” Ljajic stressed. He said that the proposed platform was a starting point and that it was presented to leaders of opposition parties, international community and Kosovo Serbs so they could give their proposals and suggestions that would help reach a complete agreement on key issues. “The international community points out in its reports that there is no partition of Kosovo but that specificity of Serbs in Kosovo needs to be respected and for the first time they are talking about the specificity. We should now determined the content of this specificity, the form is irrelevant, whether somebody will call it autonomy, region or community of municipalities, the rights and competencies that Serbs should have are important,” the deputy PM explained. Commenting on today’s meeting between Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and representatives of Kosovo Serbs, Ljajic said that they would be most interested to hear whether the autonomy of municipalities was envisaged within Serbia. He added that the Serbian authorities were still waiting for reactions of the international community, including Russia and China, and noted that there were various positions so far but that they were all expected. Ljajic could not say when the final version of the platform would be sent to parliament or if a consensus with the opposition would be reached. Rasim Ljajic (Tanjug, file) RTS
