President Tomislav Nikolić said Thursday that he would not force the Serbs in northern Kosovo and Metohija to do anything that was not in their interest.

KRAGUJEVAC President Tomislav Nikolic said Thursday that he would not force the Serbs in northern Kosovo and Metohija to do anything that was not in their interest. After his meeting with political leaders of Serbs in north on Wednesday, Nikolic on Thursday told reporters in Kraljevo, central Serbia, that time was left for the technical aspects of arrangements relevant to the integrated management of the administrative crossings in northern Kosovo to be put on paper and signed by Belgrade, Pristina and Brussels. President says he won't coerce Serbs in north “We have been verbally informed that much of what is being arranged will not be implemented in the north of Kosovo and Metohija. Let us see everything put on paper, and then let the people (Serb officials) in the north of Kosovo, who the people there perhaps trust more than me, speak out about it. I will not push anyone to accept anything that is not in their best interests,” Nikolic said. He believes that the representatives of Serbs from northern Kosovo - and he himself, as a representative of all Serbs - should be satisfied with the outcome of those talks. On Wednesday, the four northern mayors said after their meeting with Nikolic that they will accept the implementation of the IBM agreement if they receive guarantees that they would not be forced to pay customs duty to the Kosovo Albanian authorities in Pristina, or to take their car license plates and personal documents. On Thursday, the four Serb municipalities north of the Ibar River held a joint session, that decided to demand that all agreements reached during the Kosovo dialogue in Brussels should be sent to the Constitutional Court for appraisal before being implemented.
