“Serbia faces challenges, must remain united”

Serbia’s President Tomislav Nikolić has stated that Serbia faces great challenges and that it should therefore remain untied.

VRSAC Serbia’s President Tomislav Nikolic has stated that Serbia faces great challenges and that it should therefore remain untied. “I insist and I am asking you to remain united and turn to ourselves and our children’s future,” he said. “Serbia faces challenges, must remain united” At the opening of Lamp East factory in the northern Serbian town of Vrsac on Wednesday Nikolic said that it was up to Serbia to fulfill conditions set by Europe and say “There, we are here if you will have us. If you have some new condition, then you do not want us”. According to the President, Serbia has a lot to learn from its past and it is now paying for the fact it did not learn from the past. The president stressed that Serbia was burdened by numerous problems and difficulties and that it had created some of those problems while it was not responsible for others. “It is up to us to fix it, repair and work on it. It is up to those of us who are in power and who took the responsibility to employ people and if we fail to do it, there will be no more place for us here,” Nikolic concluded. Italian Ambassador to Serbia Armando Varricchio said that Italy believed in Serbia's European path and that Serbia had all the requirements to become an EU member and build a better future. At the opening of an Italian Lamp East factory, Varricchio said it was important for Italy and its industry that there is confidence in Serbia. “Italy looks at Serbia with great friendship and admiration, especially its state leaders, represented in Vrsac today by President Tomislav Nikolic. We believe Serbia has a great future in the EU,” he noted. According to the ambassador, Nikolic's presence at the opening of the Vrsac plant showed that Italy and Serbia had a future together.
