Former deputy PM arrested for corruption

BELGRADE The police have announced that they on Tuesday launched an arrest operation aimed at detaining four suspects in the Agrobanka case. Among them is Jozef Kasa, a former Serbian deputy prime minister. Kasa is suspected of having abused his office while he worked as head of Agrobanka's branch in the town of Subotica, when Malesevic was his deputy. Malisanovic is the owner of three companies: Azohem, Mala Bosna, and Azotara Subotica, while Paovica is a court-appointed expert. Serbia's public broadcaster RTS is reporting that Malisanovic gained over EUR 13mn in the process. Kasa previously served as deputy premier in the government of Zoran Djindjic, and was also at the helm of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM). Kasa, Zoran Malešević, Peđa Mališanović and Miomir Paovica are suspected of abusing their official position to incur damage to the now bankrupt bank.

Kasa is suspected of having abused his office while he worked as head of Agrobanka's branch in the town of Subotica, when Malešević was his deputy.
