BELGRADE Dejan Pavicevic said Tuesday that as far as Serbia was concerned, the most important thing was for EULEX to perform customs procedures at integrated crossings. The Director of the Office for Expert and Operational Affairs in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue stressed that the establishment of the integrated crossings management does not imply establishment of a border between Kosovo and Serbia. “EULEX to have executive role at crossings” He told RTS that EULEX' executive role was the most important for Serbia, but added that no concrete and precise agreement had been made yet. Pavicevic pointed out that at the time when the agreement on integrated crossings management was reached no one discussed into whose coffers the money collected at the crossings will go. He added that Serbia would insist that part of the incomes from northern crossings goes to local self-governments in northern part of the province, while part of it would surely belong to Pristina. "For now, there are indications that they are ready to discuss this," Pavicevic noted. He explained that the agreement implied setting up one, instead of current two checkpoints, which, as he put it, resembles a border less than it had been the case so far. Pavicevic said that members of the Serbian police administration would be deployed at the checkpoints, and not the border police. “There will also be representatives of a special department of the Tax Administration who will be in charge of goods leaving Kosovo, that is goods which are in transit through central Serbia, and sanitary inspectors and authorities that are equivalent to that on the EULEX and Pristina's side,” he explained.
