KOSOVSKA MITROVICA B92 has learnt that Kosovo Serb Slavoljub Jovic was arrested in Kosovska Mitrovica this morning. Jovic was arrested in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica. Serb arrested for attempted murder in Kosovo The Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) District Board has condemned the arrest, claiming Jovic was arrested by Serbian police (MUP). There was a confusion in northern Kosovska Mitrovica this morning as to who was arrested and who had made the arrest. Kosovo police Regional Spokesman Besim Hoti said on Wednesday morning that one person had been arrested in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica but he could not reveal the person’s identity. He added that Kosovo police officers did not take part in the arrest. “The arrest was most likely made by EULEX members. The Kosovo police was not involved in the operation and we therefore do not have more details,” Hoti explained. However, EULEX Spokeswoman Irina Gudeljevic said later on Wednesday that EULEX was not involved in any arrest on Wednesday morning and that she did not have any information about it. The Higher Public Prosecution in the central Serbian town of Kraljevo has requested that an investigation be launched against Slavoljub Jovic aka Pagi on suspicion that he tried to kill KFOR troops in the village of Rudare on June 1, 2012. Jovic is charged with attempted murder and unauthorized weapons and explosive material possession. The Prosecution released that the suspect was being questioned by an investigative judge of the Higher Court in Kraljevo. Northern Kosovo Serbs protest against arrests of Serbs Representatives of northern Kosovo Serbs held a protest in Kosovska Mitrovica on Wednesday, requesting from EULEX to stop arresting Serbs. They assessed that the arrests were aimed at intimidating the Serbian population and forcing them to leave Kosovo, as well as at establishing a border with central Serbia. “Your activities bring fear and confusion among citizens which gives us a reason to organize ourselves and protect ourselves from the illegal arrests,” the northern Kosovo Serbs warned. “The citizens of northern Kosovo are losing patience and it is not good for the international and Kosovo representatives to play with their patience,” they added. Representatives of local self-governments and districts also attended the protest. They pointed out that northern Kosovo Serbs would not accept forcible integration into Pristina’s institutions. Kosovska Mitrovica Deputy Mayor Momir Kasalovic said that names of “around 5,000 citizens from the north are on the arrest lists”. He also called on the Serbian government not to negotiate with Pristina. “These negotiations are against Serbs and they legitimize Kosovo and Metohija as a separate state more and more. We urge the government to leave the talks despite pressures from the West and regardless of any conditions related to Schengen visas or something bigger,” he said. The protest was held over the arrest of Serb Ivan Radulovic, an employee of the Kosovska Mitrovica District, who was detained by EULEX last weekend. Radulovic was arrested on Sunday at the Jarinje administrative crossing in northern Kosovo on the suspicion that he stole cars in 2000, and was released the following day. B92 Beta Tanjug
