PRISTINA Northern Kosovo undoubtedly is and will be a topic in the Kosovo dialogue, "even one of the main topics", Albanian launguage media in Pristina are reporting. That is why European diplomats are surprised Kosovo's prime minister still claims north Kosovo will not be on the agenda, the Koha Ditore daily quoted its "Brussels sources" as saying. Pristina media on resumption of Kosovo dialogue "Why would it not be a topic in the talks with Serbia, when Serbia has its own institutions there and the Serbs who live there do not recognize the authority of Pristina. Prime Minister Hashim Thaci is aware of this and he has shown flexibility in many meetings on this issue," an EU diplomat was quoted. The paper's sources also learned in diplomatic circles in Brussels about the report filed to the Political and Security Committee after the meeting of Thaci and Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic. A list based on the first meeting "will serve as a platform for the continuation of dialogue and will be presented to the two sides during the visit of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton", said the article. Monday's edition of the Zeri newspaper, however, writes that the Kosovo government "does not know how to approach the issue of the north in the upcoming talks with Belgrade". After recent statements from international officials who said the Ahtisaari Plan was not sufficient, Pristina is supposedly not sure what kind of platform to prepare, according to Zeri: "Should it get ready for the implementation of the Ahtisaari Plan, prepare a special status or come up with plan B for the exchange of territories?" Meanwhile, leader of the radical Self-Determination Movement party Albin Kurit was quoted as saying that "Thaci needs Serbia": "I understand that Thaci needs Serbia. He cannot survive without Serbia because this is the only way he can stay in power and be interesting to the international community." The leader of the second-largest opposition party called Thaci's meeting with Dacic "criminal" and said Kosovo "should have made normalization of relations a condition for Serbia's EU accession".
