SREMSKA KAMENICA Ivica Dacic says the U.S. state secretary would not be traveling to Serbia to deliver ultimatums, but rather to encourage the EU course of the authorities. "There'd be no need to travel all that way in order to deliver ultimatums. That's done in another way," the prime minister told reporters on Monday in the town of Sremska Kamenica. Clinton won't deliver ultimatums, PM says According to him, Serbian officials would discuss issues such as EU integrations, the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, regional cooperation, and fight against organized crime and terrorism, when Hillary Clinton arrives here. Clinton will be accompanied by EU's Catherine Ashton. Dacic, who also serves as interior minister in his cabinet, addressed reports that the visit would see deployment of some 4,000 police officers who would provide security, to say that this was "customary for such occasions". Ivica Dacic (file) "Support rule of law, protect lives" Dacic was in Sremska Kamenica to attend the promotion ceremony for the 7th Class of the Basic Police Training Center, where he said that the job of future police officers was to support the rule of law and protect lives, freedoms and personal integrity of people and property. Dacic expressed satisfaction that the class comprised officers from the Vranje, Leskovac and Belgrade police departments who demonstrated in their final exam that their varied backgrounds were not an obstacle to working together and learning new skills. He said that the state strived to get members of national minorities involved in all segments of society, and that he was particularly glad that the 109 graduates included 12 ethnic Albanians from southern Serbia. "We do not have enough police officers in towns, and we are trying to make the Belgrade police department as fully-staffed as possible," said Dacic, noting that the majority of trainees were from the Serbian capital. According to Dacic, with a modern training concept Serbia and the Interior Ministry prove that differences in gender, religion and nationality can only be a treasure and a collateral for a better future, "which the 7 Class of trainees has proven". Addressing "ideas to form a police administration for Vojvodina", Dacic said it was "not realistic", as the northern province was "too big for just one police administration". The issue of the organization of the police in Vojvodina is an issue of internal MUP organization, and a matter of agreement, the prime minister added, noting that Serbia's police "will remain under one MUP umbrella".
