Serbian PM Ivica Dačić has stated that reports that he was the target of an assassination attempt in Belgrade on Wednesday were not true.

BELGRADE Serbian PM Ivica Dacic has stated that reports that he was the target of an assassination attempt in Belgrade on Wednesday were not true. The premier at the same time revealed that the Serbian police "did arrest an English (British) citizen of Arab descent", but that the charges against him were "aggravated theft". The PM, who also serves as interior minister, stressed that the police were now investigating "whether there were other details" related to the incident. "I do not believe that an attack could have targeted only the two of us," the Tanjug news agency quoted Dacic as saying. The news agency also reported that the suspect who is now in custody "got into the building on the 10th floor from the roof", where he robbed the cleaners' changing room and then fled to a public toilet in an underground passage after being spotted by security. He was arrested in the restroom.
