BELGRADE Serbian government’s EU Integration Office Director Milan Pajevic has announced that the Office will propose an Action plan to the government in ten days. According to him, the plan will concretize tasks that stem from the latest report of the European Commission (EC) on Serbia’s progress in the EU integration process. “Action plan will be ready in ten days” “What we can realistically achieve until the next report will be proposed in the Action plan. Aside from that, we will prepare a National program for adoption of European legislation by the end of the year, once the implementation of the four-year National Integration Plan,” Pajevic stressed. He noted that Serbia’s overall progress was “very modest”, he added that the fact that Serbia only managed to get the candidate status in 2012 while it was supposed to get it back in 2005 or 2006 showed how slow progress was. “The latest EC report does not bring new conditions and the old ones are well-known,” Pajevic told daily Danas. “It is clear that the EU expects improvement of the dialogue (with Pristina) and an overall improvement of relations between Belgrade and Pristina without asking Serbia to recognize Kosovo’s independence in order for it to qualify for the next step in the integration – opening of the accession negotiations,” he underscored. When asked that normalization of relations with Pristina meant, the EU Integration Office said that it meant to solve everyday issues and all open political issues. “Things that have been resolved need to be implemented and the dialogue on more complicated issues, such as telecommunications and energy, needs to continue,” he added. Pajevic said he believed that controversial formulation “Kosovo’s territorial integrity” in fact meant that the EU’s position was that the partition of Kosovo was impossible.
