“Export ban does not violate CEFTA agreement”
The regulation banning export of sugar beet, sunflower and soy, adopted by the government, is not inconsistent with the World Trade Organization rules.

BELGRADE The regulation banning export of sugar beet, sunflower and soy, adopted by the government, is not inconsistent with the World Trade Organization rules. This is according to Serbia’s Foreign and Internal Trade that also said that the ban had not violated the CEFTA agreement. “Export ban does not violate CEFTA agreement” The ministry's reaction followed after Croatian Agriculture Minister Tihomir Jakovina stated that Serbia had violated CEFTA agreement by not allowing the previously contracted export of sugar beet to Croatia. The Serbian ministry told Tanjug that Serbia had at the last-month consultations informed Croatia about a possibility that the regulation would be adjusted so to allow export of sugar beet to Croatia for the merchandize that had been paid for in advance before the regulation came into effect under the condition that the Croatian companies should present evidence that they had paid for sugar beet in advance. "After that, however, the Croatian side informed us that the companies were not ready or that they did not wish to present this type of evidence. That restricted us from further analysis of a possibility of any exceptions from the regulation", Tanjug was told by the Trade Ministry. VIP
