"Days of Future: Robotics" kicks off in Belgrade

The science festival "Days of Future: Robotics" was opened in Belgrade on Monday evening by Education, Science and Technology Minister Žarko Obradović.

BELGRADE The science festival "Days of Future: Robotics" was opened in Belgrade on Monday evening by Education, Science and Technology Minister Zarko Obradovic. For the duration of the festival - which will close on October 15 - visitors will be able to see more than 25 robots from around the world. "Days of Future: Robotics" kicks off in Belgrade Addressing those gathered for the opening ceremony, the Serbian minister underlined that "robotics is an important branch of science", and added that it was being "promoted and studied in Serbia". Kolarac Foundation, Rolf Pfeifer, professor of computer science at the Department of Informatics, University of Zurich, gave a lecture entitled "Can robots think?", while Veljko Potkonjak, professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade, pointed to the work of the Belgrade School of Robotics and academician Miomir Vukobratovicc who was the founder of this school and creator of the Zero moment point theory. The visitors were presented with the most advanced humanoid robot in the world - ASIMO from Japan, who can walk, talk, and carry out orders. The science festival is organized with the assistance of the international organization Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Serbia (AINS). The organizers announced that the event will bring together robotics experts from around the world, and that the show will also feature Ecce robot, Nao robot, and various other types - from industrial and military robots.
