BELGRADE Serbia's First Deputy PM and Defense Minister Aleksandar Vucic has said he would be successful in fighting corruption and crime and that no one would be spared. In an interview for the daily Danas following his visit to Germany, Vucic said the officials he talked to in Berlin were "brutally honest" and that he was not coming home with ideal or easy conditions. Vucic says both Germans and himself were "brutally honest" "They were brutally honest, and so was I," said Vucic, noting that the conditions being talked about now were publicly stated by Germany earlier. "It is always better when things are out in the open, so it is sometimes easier to talk to Germans than to someone else," said Vucic. He added Germany was a country "you have to respect" and with which Serbia had to cooperate. "To those who think Serbia can develop without Germany, I am saying - it cannot," said Vucic. He also commented on the memorandum of cooperation signed between German and Serbian energy companies RWE and EPS. In addition to direct investments, the memorandum has created economic ties between Serbia and Germany, which is "of key importance to our country in the future." Aleksandar Vucic (file) Tanjug
