Minister: Serbia to take part in reconstruction of Iraq

Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vučić stated on Friday that Serbia would take part in reconstruction of Iraq.

BELGRADE Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vucic stated on Friday that Serbia would take part in reconstruction of Iraq. He said during talks with Iraqi Ambassador Falah Abdulhasan Abdulsada that Serbia would participate through the construction of infrastructure, hospitals and other facilities. Minister: Serbia to take part in reconstruction of Iraq Vucic and the Iraqi ambassador concluded that Serbia and Iraq shared a long tradition of friendly ties and cooperation and agreed that bilateral relations should be enhanced in all areas. According to a release issued by the Defense Ministry, special attention will be attached to the cooperation in the defense sector, both in terms of exports of defense industry products and education for Iraqi officers and engineers in Serbia. Vucic said that Serbia would provide logistic support in the maintenance of the training aircrafts Lasta which Iraq purchased in the previous period. In order to render the cooperation tangible in the next period, the defense minister announced that invitations would be sent to the Iraqi defense minister and the economy minister to visit Serbia, the release states.
