He started his two-day visit to Kosovo on Thursday. “Serbian govt. will take greater care of returnees” Vulin said that the government was truly grateful to returnees in Kosovo and that they must not be the last ones to be taken care of and pointed out that more needed to be done so that they could have a more fair and honorable living conditions. “It is a fact that there are numerous cases of abuse but this is not a reason for Serbia to stop caring for its people in the area,” he noted. He sent a message to returnees in Osojane near Pec that a budget inspection would be sent to every municipality in Kosovo and that authorities would check what was done and what would be done in the future. The Office for Kosovo director underscored that it was up to the government to reduce the number of cases of abuse and tackle the future challenges. “The assistance to returnees and Kosovo benefits will not be cancelled, it would just be distributed in a different and fairer way,” Vulin said. “Serbia is not such a poor country to allow anyone in the area to stay hungry or a child to be left without hope,” the Office for Kosovo head stated and added that Serbia would take care of the people in Kosovo as it used to do before. He noted that success would be measured according to the number of returnees who would be living in Kosovo in the future and according to whether the number would continue to increase. After the visit to Osojane, he also visited the village of Zac which has been a target of Albanian extremists ever since the return of Serbs. Returnees in Zac informed Vulin that there were 28 returnee families at the beginning but some decided to go back to Serbia because of the difficult living conditions. Vulin will end his visit to Kosovo on Friday and on Thursday he would visit the Pec Patriarchy and Gorazdevac, where he would meet with the municipal leadership and Serb representatives.
