EU rep: Political dialogue should start right away

EU's representative in Kosovo Samuel Žbogar believes that the political dialogue between Belgrade and Priština should start "right away".

PRISTINA EU's representative in Kosovo Samuel Zbogar believes that the political dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina should start "right away". According to the Albanian language daily Koha Ditore, he also stated that leaders of both sides should assume responsibility for resolving problems in the Serb north which "increased tensions and prevented development". EU rep: Political dialogue should start right away In an interview for the Pristina-based newapaper, Zbogar said that during the meeting between EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton and Kosovo Prime Minister Hahsim Thaci, Ashton explained the details of the EU request for the Belgrade-Pristina political dialogue. The request is soon to be explained to Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic as well, he was quoted as saying. The newspaper further said that "according to the EU", Belgrade and Pristina "should resolve all open issues in terms of the north and mutual relations so as to facilitate the pathway towards development that is the EU integration". "The EU high representative expressed hope that the report on the feasibility study will state that Kosovo can start a dialogue on the process of stabilization and accession so that EU member states could make a decision on the issue in December," writes the daily. Zbogar paid a visit to the United States last week where he explained the EU goals, which were backed by official Washington, and got support for the continuation of the EULEX mission in Kosovo, the article concluded.
