BELGRADE Democratic Party (DS) deputy leader Jelena Trivan has denied some media reports that she is DS leader Boris Tadic’s candidate for the party whip in parliament. “This says a lot about two things – about the situation in the media where it is possible to publish any information without checking it and about the interests from outside to incite stories about conflicts in the DS,” she told daily Politika. DS official says somebody is inciting conflicts in party She stressed she would not be the DS whip in parliament and added that Bojan Pajtic and Dragan Djilas, who according to some media were against Trivan being the DS whip, knew about her decision and that they supported her. “I hope that those who ‘courageously’ criticize today, will have the courage to start a public fight with opponents and to defend the party the same way they criticized it,” Trivan stressed. She believes that new people should replace some DS officials in important positions in parliament. “Either those who are the most popular or those with the biggest authority in the party will be the most visible or those who have the biggest potential for the future, which has not been the case so far. Some criterion needs to exist,” the DS deputy leader noted. She said that Tadic had lost the elections and that those who would not politically exist without him would criticize him the most. “It looks like local leaders, local board presidents and activists are responsible for the success while only Boris Tadic is responsible for the defeat. The fact that the party would have had even worse result if there had not been for Boris Tadic’s candidacy and that his ratings were always higher than the party’s is already forgotten,” Trivan pointed out.
