BELGRADE The Democratic Party (DS) Presidency believes Social-Democratic Party of Serbia (SDPS) leader Rasim Ljajic should not join the new government, B92 has learnt. The DS assessed that DS member Milica Delevic, who was offered to join the new government by Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) acting leader Aleksandar Vucic, should not be a part of the future government either. Democrats against SDPS leader in new government B92 has unofficially learnt that the DS’ position does not represent the final decision for the SDPS and that the party will make a final decision on Thursday. Ljajic told Tanjug that he had been informed about the DS’ position and that the final decision would be made at the SDPS Presidency meeting on Thursday. He added that he had gotten the final offer from PM-Designate Ivica Dacic and Vucic to be a deputy PM and economic relations, trade, tourism and telecommunications minister. “Vucic and Dacic’s offer is more than fair,” the SDPS leader pointed out. He said on Wednesday that an agreement on his party’s participation had not been made yet and that he was waiting for the Democrats’ position. Ljajic pointed out that he would not join the future government without the DS' consent. DS Executive Board President Marko Djurisic said that the SDPS leader was free to decide to join the government but that he could not get the DS’ support for it. Commenting on the DS Presidency’s decision not to support Ljajic and Delevic’s participation in the government, he stressed that the DS “cannot delegate or send anyone or give consent for them to enter the new government”. “On the other hand Mr. Ljajic has his own party and MPs and he can of course make a decision on his own but he cannot get the support of the DS for a decision to join the new government,” he explained. He explained that the party’s position on Delevic was the same as on all other members, adding that every individual had the right to decide what to do. “As far as DS officials are concerned, it is not exactly logical for them to take part in the government which is being formed now,” Djurisic concluded.
