A high ranking official of the Democratic Party (DS) has said that their "potential coalition partners must finally declare themselves very soon". Jelena Trivan, who is one of DS vice-presidents, spoke on Thursday in Belgrade to say that this declaration should reveal whether they wished to form a new government with the Democrats, or the Progresives (SNS). Democrats urge parties "to declare their intentions" "By the end of the week or very soon, political parties will have to come up with a final declaration, not through the media but at a meeting where potential coalition partners will clearly say whether they want a government led by the Democratic Party or a government led by Serb Progressive Party," Trivan said. She added that the DS had "so far done everything possible to form a new government, and that there is no option for the Democrats and the Progressives to make a big coalition". Trivan stated that no talks were taking place about a coalition between the DS and SNS at all, and that "no one can say whether it is more likely that the government will be formed by the Democrats or the Progressives". She added that it was "clear that negotiations on government formation are held on all sides, and that it is obvious that the Progressives are trying to form a majority". "We as a party have done everything to form a parliamentary majority, which means that we have not set any blackmail or any personnel requirements to our potential coalition partners, but only a requirement to carry out economic reforms, and fight against corruption," according to her. "These are two things on which we insisted and nothing more," Trivan asserted. Jelena Trivan (Tanjug, file) Tanjug
