The deadline that President Tomislav Nikolic gave to the Democratic Party (DS) and Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) to form the government will expire on Monday. However, it is still unknown who will be the third partner. Democrats, Socialists have until Monday to form govt. Daily Politika Editor in Chief Dragan Bujosevic told B92 that public could conclude from DS leader Boris Tadic’s statement who would be the more desirable partner. “You could see from his speech that he would rather have the U-Turn in the coalition than the United Regions of Serbia (URS) but we do not know exactly what the SPS' position is,“ he said. “I think that they are waiting for the SPS' position to see who the third one will be,“ Bujosevic added. According to him, the speed at which the government will be formed depends on who will form the majority in parliament and the possibility of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) forming the government is small. SPS official Dusan Bajatovic said yesterday that the government needed to be formed as soon as possible and that he expected the Socialists to get more positions and ministries, in accordance with the election results.
